Accountancy and Financial Services
Introduction
Who needs a Chartered Accountant?
Whether you are thinking of starting a business, or you are already operating one, you will require help and assistance from a qualified Chartered Accountant.
A Chartered Accountant will be able to advise on setting up your accounting system, handle your tax enquiries, help you prepare your payroll and deal with your queries. You will be benefiting from the wide financial experience of the accountant.
There is no charge for the initial consultation.
At Brown RS we provide the following financial services:
Accountancy
- Setting up in business whether you operate as a sole trader, in partnership or as a limited company. You will require sound advice depending on your circumstances from the start.
- Record keeping - not only good business practice but is also a legal requirement. Help can be provided in producing management accounts - keep up to date and know how you are performing. Show your bank manager how you are managing your cash flow and how you are monitoring your performance against your cash flow projections.
- We provide a comprehensive bookkeeping and payroll service.
- We can train your staff to process accounting records, including payroll, and produce management accounts. We are members of the Sage Accountants Club.
- How to control your costs. Prepare your budget and see how you are sticking to it. As you grow, you will need to implement good internal control systems.
- We can assist you in preparing your case for raising finance - you may require a bank overdraft or loan or you may wish to raise capital by a share issue. We can advise on the appropriate form of borrowing depending on your circumstances.
Audit
Brown RS is authorised by The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales to undertake audit work.
For those clients whose businesses require an audit, we provide a value added service. For instance, we would review your system of internal control and suggest improvements if necessary. This leads to efficient savings, hence cost reductions. With over 30 years of audit experience, we bring our skills to bear in providing you with an efficient service.
The Principal of the firm, Roy Brown, lectures on auditing (part time) at Stevenson College, Edinburgh.
Taxation
Taxation advice means more than just preparing a client's tax return. Whether you are a sole trader, in partnership or a corporate entity, effective tax planning will minimise your tax bill. Don't rush into important decisions without taking professional tax advice.
You can also find a tax efficient way to give your employee's cash or benefits in kind - however you will need to take professional advice.
Increasingly, tax payers are finding that they are subject to income tax and value added tax enquiries or investigations. Proper representation by a qualified accountant is essential. Handling of an enquiry or investigation by an accountant, ensures that the client is fully and adequately represented throughout the investigation.
